The JAGDA Peace and Environment Poster Exhibition 1993: I’m here.

More Details in Japanese

In 1983 the Japan Graphic Designers Association Inc. (JAGDA) began sponsoring an annual exhibition of posters voluntarily created by its members on the general theme of “peace”. Known as the “JAGDA Peace Posters Exhibition,” the event was expanded to international scope in 1987, embracing designers from 31 nations. In 1989 the focus was then broadened to include posters on environmental issues, particularly water. Finally, to mark the exhibition’s 10th anniversary and promote its further development, in 1992 the title was changed to: “The JAGDA Peace and Environment Poster Exhibition: I’m here.” The exhibition toured throughout Japan and overseas to high acclaim, including a prominent showing in Rio de Janeiro to coincide with the Earth Summit. In light of this outstanding response, JAGDA immediately proceeded with plans for a 2nd exhibition in this series for 1993. Happily, this year’s exhibition is being undertaken in conjunction with events to mark JAGDA’s 15th anniversary.
We sincerely hope that the exhibition will be seen by as many people as possible, and that its posters will foster a deeper understanding and awareness of peace and environmental issues.
We take this opportunity to express our heartfelt appreciation to Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd., Nippon Kakoh Seishi Co., Ltd., Tokushu Paper Mfg.Co.,Ltd. and the many other organizations and individuals who have made this exhibition possible.
