A message for JAGDA members on the occasion of Tohoku earthquake.

To JAGDA members,

Our prayers and thoughts are with all the victims of 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami.

We are confirming the safety of JAGDA members in affected regions, and keep praying for those out of touch (Note: We have confirmed they were all safe as of March 15th). In this unprecedented situation, we are looking for what we can do, and sending a message to all JAGDA members.

Today, JAGDA established a special committee on disaster to support the affected members to the fullest. We will reorganize this year’s framework to focus on Tohoku region by reviewing planned events. At the same time we will call for financial aids within members.

Now, we are called in a question of how to acknowledge the situation and act for the society, not only as an individual but also as a group of solidarity. We would like to find out the role of designers in regional community at the time of this disaster. We will realize what we can do one by one by collecting new proposals for information environment and communication.

We hope to create a new movement in our organization with each member’s wisdom, so please send your proposals and share any information you may have. Thank you for your cooperation.
